A top reader tape measure is usually fine, but if your panes are over a metre in length or height, or you’ve just got a lot to measure, a laser measure can make your life much easier.

However, we only recommend Bosch professional laser measures, as we’ve found that others can be surprisingly inaccurate.

Don’t use the laser measure in very bright direct sunlight, or if you have to, take an extra measurement or two to check.
